Program Description:
MEXT Specialized Training Scholarship
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan

This scholarship program is not run through Education Abroad at Kansas State University.  Therefore the APPLY NOW button has been removed.  If you wish to apply to this scholarship program, please follow the directions below or click the Request Info button to create an advising application.


This scholarship is for a student looking to study at a Japanese professional training school studying fields such as Technology, Fashion, Healthcare, Media, etc.  Students may spend up to 3 years studying at a Japanese professional training school.

  • Must be studying a Japanese-related major.
  • Must have legal U.S. citizenship.
  • Must have completed at least 12 years of schooling.
  • Must be aged 16-21 at time of departure.

The scholarship provides full tuition and airfare and a ¥117,000 monthly stipend.

How to Apply:

Applications are available in April and due in June.  In-person interviews are in July.  Students will depart for Japan in April of the following year.
